STANDARDS CONVERSION

Although a VHS cassette or a DVD look the same worldwide, they're not!  There are different TV systems in use in different parts of the world. This is why VHS cassettes from the USA and Japan won't play in a standard European VHS reocder and vice versa.
Basically therea are 3 TV-systems in use: PAL, SECAM and NTSC, But they all have their own variations, so the total number is of systems is much higher. And we're still only talking about Standard Definition TV, if you add HDTV to the mix there are 18 standards in the USA alone! .

We can convert between PAL, SECAM and NTSC for VHS and DVD. Of course this only applies to your own private recordings where nog copyrights from third parties apply.

During this proces the videosignal is both stabilised and digitized, by means of a time base corrector, before being converted to another system. The sound is copied with the aid of a limiter .
